Meet the astounding and diligent Pet Refuge ABC Clinic staff
Dr. Kristin Tvrdik became interested in Veterinary Medicine as a teenager while working at a humane society in Chicago. She decided to apply to veterinary school in order to help fight the overpopulation of dogs and cats, and provide medical care for homeless, abandoned, and unwanted pets in shelters. Dr. Tvrdik graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. After graduation, she began her career as a Shelter and Spay/Neuter Clinic Veterinarian in the Quad Cities.
Dr. Lauren Adduci knew she wanted to a shelter veterinarian since she was 10 years old. She strongly believes in the mission of spay/neuter clinics to help control the pet population as a means of promoting animal welfare. Dr. Adduci recently graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine as part of the Class of 2016. During her time at Purdue, she took several shelter medicine electives which allowed her to spend several weeks at larger facilities such as PAWS Chicago and the Humane Society of Indianapolis where her passion for helping animals continued to grow. Her favorite clinical rotation was Purdue’s Priority 4 Paws Mobile Unit which allowed her to travel to local animal shelters to perform spay/neuter surgeries for shelter pets.
Dr. Kari Kryder began volunteering at a local animal shelter at a young age. Kari graduated from Iowa State University in 1996 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After Grad school, Dr. Kryder became a veterinarian for the United States Army. She began working at Kryder Veterinary Clinic in 2002. Shortly thereafter, she began volunteering with Pet Refuge. Kari became an advisory board member, along with her husband, Dr. Donn Kryder. Dr. Kryder is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Association of Shelter Veterinarians.
Kim is a surgery assistant and veterinary assistant. Kim has grown up around animals, and continues to surround herself with them. She started her veterinary career in high school working for a local large animal veterinarian. She attended Black Hawk College in Kewanee, IL and studied animal science. Kim has always enjoyed working with animals of all sizes! She has been a volunteer with Pet Refuge for about 3 years as a canine foster parent. Kim is thrilled to be on the Pet Refuge ABC Clinic team!
Kayleigh has always wanted to work with animals. Growing up, Kayleigh always had pets in the home she cherished. During high school, Kayleigh focused on veterinary technology. She attended Brown Mackie, where she received an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology. She is currently studying to take her board exam to receive her registration. Kayleigh has enjoyed working in veterinary clinics for five years, two of those years being in California. She owns a total of five pets; a Beagle mix, an Australian Shepherd mix, a German Shepherd, a cat, and a sugar glider.
Kira moved from East Lansing, MI to Indiana in 2015, and has since been a member of our team. She graduated from Baker College of Jackson in 2013 with an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology, and is now a licensed Technician in both Indiana and Michigan. Although Kira has always had a variety of pets while growing up, she currently shares her home with only one-a Siberian Husky named Onyx.
Lane is from Desoto, Indiana, and currently lives in Granger. She is a graduate of Ball State University. She has 2 pit bulls that keep her very busy when she is not at work.
Sara grew up in Elkhart, Indiana. She attended Brown Mackie College where she received an Associates in Veterinary Technology. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician. During college, she worked part time cleaning kennels at ABC Clinic and was a volunteer at Pet Refuge. She has three pets, Shaun, an Australian Shepard mix, Spencer, a Chihuahua mix and a guinea pig named waffles.
Ciera has lived in the Michiana area her whole life. She has worked with animals since she was young. Ciera started volunteering at animal shelters in high school. She then went to Brown Mackie college focusing her studies to be a veterinary technician. She has two cats and one dog.
Katie is originally from Fort Wayne, IN. She recently moved to the South Bend area from Syracuse, New York. Katie graduated from IPFW in 2010. In recent years, Katie interned as a veterinary technician. She was also a foster home for Guardian Angel Basset Rescue. She has a 5 year old Basset Hound name Rockne. He is her whole world!
Ida is from Chicago, IL and moved to South bend in 2006. She is a graduate of Ivy Tech Community College with a focus in early childhood education. She loves pets, especially little dogs! Ida has had pet dogs of her own since the age 5. Her very first dog was a rottweiler named Spike. Her most recent pet was a shih tzu named Toby. She believes all animals are a blessing!
Nichole has lived in the Michiana area her entire life. She has been interested in animals for as long as she can remember. She plans to go attend Indiana University South Bend to study Pre-Veterinary science. Then she plans to go to veterinary school to become a large animal vet. She has been volunteering at Reins of Life for about two years. She has many pets including a cat, Shih Tzu, Bearded Dragon, a German Shepherd, and a Toad. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge of animals and helping many along the way.
Noelle lives in Niles, MI, where she also spent her childhood. Noelle’s goal in life is to be part of a team dedicated to the care and well being of animals. When she was a senior in high school, she interned at a veterinary clinic. It was there that she gained the experience needed to become an integral part of the team at ABC Clinic. She currently lives with her two Shih Tzus, Chloe and Phoebe, whom she loves dearly!
