Lane

Lane DeMeulenaere, RVT, Director of Clinic Operations

Lane is from Albany, Indiana and currently lives in Granger with her husband and two young daughters. Lane started at the ABC Clinic in 2015, has been a Registered Veterinary Technician for 10 years, and is a graduate of Ball State University and Harrison College. In her free time she loves on her rescue bully named Kaia that she adopted from Pet Refuge and spending time with her family. Lane enjoys the fast paced environment at the ABC Clinic and the impact it has on our community.

 

 

 

 

Veterinarians

 

0Dr. Mercedes Gumm, DVM – Medical Director

Dr. Mercedes Gumm is a native of New Carlisle, Indiana. Spending much of her childhood around farm animals, she grew up knowing she would always be a veterinarian. After graduating from Purdue University with a degree in Animal Science, she continued to veterinary school. She received her
Doctorate from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine, Grenada, West Indies in January 2019. After studying abroad Dr. Mercedes moved back to South Bend with her fiancée Jeffrey and their dogs Goose and Dottie. They welcomed their baby girl Lucey into the world in August 2019. In her free time she loves to travel, be outdoors, and spend time with her family.

 

 

 

   0Dr. Sarah Weiss, DVM

Dr. Sarah Weiss graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.  She has been working at ABC and Pet Refuge since July 2019, and loves the opportunity to interact with multiple patients daily and perform surgery. When she’s not at ABC or Pet Refuge, Dr. Weiss stays busy reading, hiking, crocheting, and spending time with her husband and son. She also has three cats named Patches, Misty, and Sokka; and a turtle named Toby.

 

 

 

Administrative Staff

Kristen lives in a small town in northern Indiana with her two almost grown daughters, their father, two cats and two dogs.  She loves traveling, camping, and going on long nature hikes.  Kristen has worked at the ABC Clinic since May of 2019 and she absolutely loves it.  She wakes up in the morning truly happy to come to work because, to her, the environment has such a great and positive energy.  She can’t imagine working anywhere else now.

Sydney Ryan, Administrative Assistant

Sydney is a born and raised Hoosier from Elkhart, Indiana. She has had many family dogs growing up but loves being a dog-mom to Ollie, her Pomeranian.. She loves working for ABC and being a part of such a great cause that benefits our community.

Kayleigh has always wanted to work with animals. Growing up, she always had pets in the home she cherished. During high school, Kayleigh focused on veterinary technology. She attended Brown Mackie, where she received an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology. Kayleigh has enjoyed working in veterinary clinics for many years, two of those years being in California. Along with multiple fur-babies at home, her and her husband welcomed their baby boy, Nolan in 2020.

 

 

0   Sydnee Birch, Veterinary Assistant

Sydnee started at the ABC Clinic in 2019. She enjoys the fast paced environment and learning everything that the veterinary field has to offer. In her free time she is kept busy by working on her RVT degree, her rescue dogs Laney and Chopo, and spending time with her family.

Mary grew up in Plymouth IN where she currently resides with her husband and 3 dogs: Echo, Ruger, and Aries. Growing up, she was a 10 year member of the 4-H dog club and participated in dog shows around Indiana. In her free time Mary enjoys hunting, fishing, kayaking and camping. She has been part of the ABC team since November 2019 and is excited to continue making a difference.

 

 

 

 

0Hope Peters, Veterinary Assistant

Hope joined the ABC team in 2019 and is currently working towards becoming an RVT. She enjoys working with the animals and making a difference in the community. You may also see Hope helping out at the front desk as well. Outside of work she keeps busy with her young family and farm life that includes, seven dogs, chicken, cattle, pigs, ducks, and sheep.
